A VR gauntlet game where you avoid lasers

Doomsday Survival:Training puts you in a hall and fires a series of horizontal lasers at you that you have to jump over, duck under, or hide from. It becomes steadily more difficult as time passes.

Dodge lasers coming from down the hall

Doomsday Survival:Training places you in a hallway where laser grids come flying towards you. They start easy with just a single horizontal laser coming towards you that you have to jump over, and then they become more difficult as grids of lines appear and you have to hide in the lasers. The game encourages you to jump, duck and hide. Plus, you may use your controller to collect coins and HP points. You can simply move your controller to collect the coins, or you may move your whole body. It can tell if you jump or if you try to simulate a jump with your controller.

Doomsday Survival:Training could have been much more

Doomsday Survival:Training explores a few nice ideas that other VR games had not explored prior to its release, but it is obvious that the developers have set up the game and bug tested it without playing it all the way through. Some of the levels are impossible to complete without cheating, and there are some collectibles that cannot be attained without your character dying. The developers could have done more with this game, but they stopped just short of success.

PROS

  • Explores and uses ideas that hadn't been used yet
  • Encourages you to move around the room

CONS

  • Some levels are impossible to complete
  • Was shipped without being play-bug tested
